About Rex

Dave, Dana and I all three grew up under my dad learning the art of running a good restaurant through well executed systems. I later sold out my portion to Dave and Dana and went on to start on a new career of video production.

I’ve spent the last 10 years in the video production world where I started IKE Media. I built IKE Media, a non- profit organization, to connect youth to the great fun of video production. With my brother Terry and good friend Josh McMurrin, we built IKE Media to be a great company that served corporate clients with a great product all while giving youth a great opportunity.

Later we started the IKE Box in downtown Salem with our video production company upstairs and our coffee shop and concert business downstairs. We had a great time building the IKE Businesses. I later stepped down as executive director of the non-profit and have been running my independent production company for a few years. As I’ve worked closely with businesses over the years I’ve never forgotten what my dad, Ken, taught me. Working on your business, building good systems, executing well and unparalleled customer service is the only true recipe for success.

A Little History 

RexAid started out of a true love for business. I’ve had the fortune to grow up under a very successful entrepreneur, my dad Ken Robertson. We moved to Salem when I was young and bought the little A&W restaurant on the corner of 12th and State. As I grew up working in both of our A&Ws here in Salem I learned hard work, dedication and unparalleled customer service from my Dad and brother Terry.

After returning from California, where I received a BS degree from Cal Poly Pomona in Business Administration with an emphasis on Finance, Real Estate and Law, I joined my Dad in building the Figaro’s Pizza chain. As the franchisor we built the chain to 75 stores in 6 states.

This is where I truly fell in love with business. We specialized in building well thought out and refined systems that our franchisees could put into place that would help to grow their business. Small businesses are truly the heartbeat of America.

After selling the chain in 1996 I went on to build 5 Figaro’s Pizza shops in partnership with two great guys Dave and Dana. I enjoyed learning what a tough job it is to build a successful restaurant. We were fortunate to have 5 successful stores and be in a franchise where we had personally built the great operational systems.
